Pretty pretty cupcakes!
Last week Lindsay Marie delivered cupcakes to our wonderful photographer Kristal. Her instructions were the same as my cookies - just something girly and pretty :) I love these cupcakes that Lindsay Marie created - what little girl wouldn't love these?? I love the sparkles on the blue and purple cupcakes!

Early Christmas Cookies for the Jingle Mart
Last week I was asked if I would be interested in making some cookies for the Christ the King school's annual Jingle Mart. I was thrilled to be asked! I had less than 48 hours to do it though once I was asked...I like a challenge! Really I just wanted to use my new snowflake cookie cutters I think. :) Below are some of the cookies that I created for the event - hope all went well with it!! Thanks again for asking me to do this!

Girly cookies!
Girly cookies = pink and purple and sparkles and sprinkles! I had a fun time making these cookies. Kristal was nice enough to do the photo shoot for Lindsay Marie and I in exchange for a batch of cookies and a batch of cupcakes. I think we got the good end of the deal there! Her pictures are phenomental! This week I finally had time to bake the cookies for her. She requested something for her daughters and the only request was something "girly" and pink. Done and done! I delivered them today and when I asked her daughter if she liked cookies she said, "I like pink cookies!" I am told that the cookies were enjoyed and that makes me very happy! Thanks again Kristal!

La Marie's Confections Launch Party!
First of all, I want to shout out a big THANK YOU to all of those who helped us get ready for the launch party and for those who attended. We had a great time getting ready for the party as well as actually having the party last Sunday. I don't think either of us have ever made that many cupcakes and cookies at one time but we had fun with it :)
We held the launch party in one of the great event rooms at the Newburgh library. We baked ~100 each of our different flavors of cupcakes and cookies that we will be offering as well as ~100 cupcakes and cookies for the centerpieces which were decorated and for looks only. Below are some pictures from the party. Again, thanks to all who came and who helped us out!

Another Halloween party order!
We ended up getting two orders on the same day for two different Halloween parties. We had a lot going on with baking for our launch party that weekend but we decided what the heck? We'll do them! In addition to the party for Mark's little boy, we did an order of two dozen cupcakes and two dozen cookies for Lindsay Marie's friend Brian. He was having a Halloween party and wanted some La Marie's goodies to be on display. I am told that everyone absolutely adored them! YAY!
Thanks Brian for your order and your support of La Marie's!!!

Our First Order!
We were beyond excited last week to receive our first paid order! It was from someone that we know through work who wanted a dozen cupcakes and a dozen sugar cookies for his 8 year old son's Halloween party. His only request? He wanted something spooky. Spooky and decorating cupcakes and cookies for kids...hm. We gave it our best effort and we are told that the kids and the adults both loved the goodies! I don't have a picture of the cupcakes but they were awesome! Mummies, scary green monsters, and ones with bloody fingers coming out of them - ew! :) Thank you to Mark for our first paid order! Shall we frame the money??
Here are the cookies that I made - tied up with "bloody" guaze with spiders - spooky enough??

Photo Shoot Teaser!
As some of you know, this past weekend Lindsay Marie and I had a photoshoot for pictures to be used on our website that is in the works. Lindsay's friend Kristal shot for us and she did an amazing job! We had a blast while shooting and the pictures turned out amazing! There were about 70 pictures total and obviously we can't use them all so it will be a hard time choosing which ones to use on the site. But as for a little teaser....

A Few Questions...With Some Answers!
It has been a whirlwind in the world of La Marie's as it has been since day one. We are busy every day planning, baking, creating, etc. Now that we have sent out our launch party invitations and have started spreading the word of our new fabulous business, we have had some questions come up. I'll try to answer some of them for you here. Let me know if you have any more!
Q: Do you guys have an official website?
A: We are currently in the process of creating a personal website which will have more information about us, galleries of our product, pricing, etc. We met with a possible web designer yesterday so we will know in the next week or so what the status is on this. I'll keep everyone updated!
Q: What are your prices?
A: We are currently in the process of pricing our products. The only thing definite at this point is that all of our products will be sold by the dozen with a one dozen minimum per order. This excludes cookie bouquets which might sometimes be less than one dozen.
Q: What flavors of cupcakes and cookies will you offer?
A: I do believe that we have this list finalized but you will all just have to wait until we actually launch to learn of our fabulous flavors as we still have some last minute tweaking to do!
Q: Will you ship or deliver?
A: Yes and yes! We will ship anywhere in the United States. I have shipped cookies already to New York and was told they still looked great and tasted so great that they melted in your mouth. As for delivery, we will deliver within a certain number of miles of Evansville for free - distance to be determined. Anything over that mileage will require a minimum order size and pricing for delivery will be determined.
Q: When can we start buying things?
A: Our official launch is set for November 1st. After that, we should have our website up and going and everyone who attended our launch party will have a better idea of the products that we will offer. At that point, we are up for orders!
Q: Do you offer specialty diet products such as Vegan, Gluten Free, etc?
A: We do already have one cupcake that is a Vegan recipe and it is delicious! We are in the process of creating some other recipes that will fall into these specialty diet categories.
These are just a handful of things that we have been asked so far. If you have any additional questions, feel free to comment and we will do our best to answer!

Cookies for Miss Avery
It seems like all of my friends are having babies right now! My good friends Kat and Dave recently had a gorgeous little girl - Avery Shea. I decided that Avery needed some custom cookies sent to her - and maybe her mom and dad might enjoy them as well. :) These were shipped to New York and they made it perfectly and I am told they still tasted excellent. YAY! Check them out - more baby cookies to come!

Launch Party!
Who doesn't like a party? And even better, who doesn't like a party with free treats? I know I do!
Lindsay Marie and I decided to throw a launch party/open house to get the word out about La Marie's Confections. Formal invitations will be sent out to family & friends and we will post about the party on Twitter and Facebook in hopes to get a lot of traffic the day of the party! Check out the invites and envelopes that Lindsay Marie and I created - I am in love with them! These fab invites were put into the mail yesterday - signed, sealed, delivered!
The launch party will be held in one of the event rooms at the Newburgh Library on Sunday, November 1st from 2pm-4pm. We will be creating several different cupcakes and cookies for our guests to sample - lots of different flavors and for lots of different occasions. We are looking forward to displaying our treats for everyone to see!

La Marie's Is Born!
The long awaited question..."Which name did you decide on???" is finally here!
La Marie's Confections!
La Marie's Confections!
When Lindsay Marie and I decided that we wanted to truly do this - start a business - we knew what we wanted to do. I adore decorating cookies and getting to use the creative portion of my brain. She adores making couture cupcakes. Viola! "Hey, do you really want to do this?" The question that started it all.
The ball started rolling fast. Our first big obstacle? What will we call ourselves? We brainstormed for a week or so - writing out random words, random phrases, names of cooking related items...anything we could think of that would help. I mean what other list will you find the words, "luscious", "flour", "flippin' sweet", and "oven" all on the same page??? See below - that was the beginning of it all. A couple of legal pads, a lot of words, and a lot of creativity on our parts (oh, and a bottle of Asti to celebrate!).
We decided to ask our friends and family what they preferred once we narrowed it down to about 10 different possibilities. The results were mixed. I guess we had hoped for an overwhelming response? No such luck. After more deliberation we finally went with La Marie's Confections. We liked that from the get go. L = Lindsay, a = April, and our middle names together = Marie's. And there you have it! We have a name so now what??
Now it's time for the work. A lot of meetings, a lot of delegating, and a lot of planning. Stay tuned to see what we have in store!!!
